Cummins Bridgeway has announced a new initiative to reduce diesel and natural gas exhaust emissions in Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. Exhaust after-treatment is going to be a critical component of our long range business plan and that initiative starts today.

Cummins Bridgeway has already been successful in performing installations for Bandit Industries and Harsco Track Technologies (see pictures). With these two DOEM customers, both report successes in providing "green engines" to their customers who want to reduce tail pipe emissions. Both customers are receiving credit from local communities and clean air groups for their proactive stance on reducing emissions. These two B-series engines were fitted with catalytic exhaust mufflers manufactured by Fleetguard Nelson, a subsidiary of Cummins Inc.

 

This University of Michigan bus was outfitted with a diesel particulate filter by Cummins Bridgeway.  The filter has reduced the buses emissions by 90%.

Catalytic mufflers can reduce Particulate Matter up to 50%, Hydrocarbons up to 90% and Carbon Monoxide at a rate of up to 90% also. These products contain integrated catalyst within the mufflers, require no maintenance and can operate without the use of Ultra Low Sulfur Fuel. Future projects will include Transit Buses, Generator Units, School Buses, Natural Gas Power Units, On Highway Equipment and large Industrial Power Units.

In addition to catalytic mufflers, particulate filters, mobile SCR, NOx absorbers and EGR systems are also available and will play a roll in cleaning up tail pipe emissions as more stringent reductions become mandatory.
